I really ought to say thank you
For leaving a vacant space for us to step into
I may never hear you say, “you’re welcome”
Or get to know of all the hardships you’ve overcome
I really ought to run from some of you
For all the toxic residue
That you left our world with, solemn and loathsome
Leaving us with this wretched system
I really ought to remember some of you
The ones who experience the world views
Will forever be lonesome
Held onto by their graves and seldom blossom
The millions of dead individuals each have a story to tell, but most are never shared. Most are forgotten, discarded, or swept over by the new developments brought by the endless continuation of time. There are scumbags but also good-natured folks who may have never gotten the opportunity to share their story before their passing. It’s time we honor the underrated and forgotten as well as the significant historical figures that fought for positive change while learning from the disasters of our past to refrain from repeating them.
