Motley, illustrated by Zoya Farooqui and written by Madhalasa Iyer, is an interesting and engaging book to share with your family and friends.

The biases of the communities in which their two families live hamper the lovely bond between the two main characters. Whitney, a studious child from a white household, and Brianne, a joyful and candy-loving Black girl, had been closest friends for years. However, the two families do not allow them to interact beyond school and actively discourage their friendship. With a school camping trip coming up soon, the two devise a plan to convince their families to accept their friendship.

Motley demonstrates how communication and compassion can overcome racial and cultural boundaries in an age of rising division. It's a story about how two best friends' relationships can surpass familial and cultural prejudices and bring people together.
